RENO, Nev. (AP) - A California-based company that provides prepaid and financial payment products for businesses and consumers has announced plans to move three of its divisions to Reno.
Officials for Blackhawk Network and the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada said Wednesday the move will mean 80 new jobs for the Reno area initially and as many as 130 over five years.
A subsidiary of Safeway Inc., Blackhawk Network's products include Gift Card Mall, one of the most popular prepaid card, telecom and financial brands in the industry.
Officials for the company with a global workforce of 700 say they provide access to 160 million customer visits a week. It's available through a network of leading grocery stores, big box, convenience, pharmacy, specialty stores, Internet retailers and mobile channels, including GiftCardMall.com.
