MINDEN, Nev. (AP) - A 29-year-old Gardnerville woman being held on $1 million bail in the Dec. 2, 2013 shooting death of her male roommate has entered a guilty plea to voluntary manslaughter.
Nicole Followill initially said she acted in self-defense because he had beaten her multiple times and threatened to kill her.
Tuesday, Followill entered the guilty plea and will be sentenced in East Fork Justice Court November 6th.
Gardnerville's Record-Courier reports Followill told detectives she shot Thrift once in the forehead with a 9 mm Glock handgun as he came at her at the Gardnerville residence they shared, but she argues it was justifiable homicide.
Followill faces 20 years in prison.
