RENO, NV - Despite temperatures stretching toward the 90's, Halloween is almost here. Already you're seeing decorations and costumes pop up at stores. Over in the parking lot at Legends there's another sign of the season, Frightmare. It's one of the most popular seasonal attractions in Northern Nevada and it just keeps getting bigger and better.
Thursday, organizers held open auditions to cast the creepy clowns and the undead that keep the chills coming. In all they're looking to hire about 150 cast members to fill two haunted houses, a maze and something called "the black hole".
Owner Scott Sidenstricker says candidates have at least 18-years-old and have outgoing personalities. Frightmare management provides costumes and training for those who are selected. Crews took KOLO 8 inside for a look at new surprises in store for visitors this year. While while vampires and zombies are still the big craze, at Frightmare it's all about "Clown Town". "When they see our clowns," says Sidenstricker "even if they're not afraid of clowns, they'll be scared of clowns." He says this year the exhibit is in 3D and includes a new lineup of costumes and characters.
Tickets start this year at just $11.00 for one house. For $16.00 you can tour all 4 frightening fun houses. A portion of your ticket price will be given back to the community, benefiting Education Alliance of Washoe county. Doors open on October 4th. For more information, click on the link below.
