SPARKS, NV - People were lined up at two hours before the doors opened at a job fair for a TJ Maxx store set to open next month. The three day hiring event is taking place at Legends through Saturday. Many, like Joy Smith, are hoping that this will be the opportunity they've been waiting for. She says she's been looking for a job for a year and a half.
As the economy slowly improves, there could soon be even more jobs available here. Legends Marketing Director, Catherine Oaks says an Old Navy Store will open before the end of the year. She also expect construction to be complete on a new theater before the holidays in 2012, and possibly a Walmart by 2014.
O the opposite side of Reno, Boomtown is also looking to put a few people back to work. Friday they're having a job fair to fill positions in facilities maintenance, guest services, and banquet staff. With a new management team in place, they say they have big plans to keep growing and they expect to see more growth and more hiring.
