RENO, NV - United Federal Credit Union's Double R branch is hosting a free Community Shred Day in Reno on Thursday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Members, non-members, and businesses are invited to take a maximum of four boxes of paper items to be shredded by Iron Mountain Inc. Items will be shredded on-site.

"We are offering this free shred event to protect individuals and businesses in the community from identity theft and corporate espionage by helping them safeguard and destroy documents with confidential information," says United Federal Credit Union Branch Manager John Nichols. "If you don't shred, your reputation or business may be at risk."

"Cops and Burgers" will be grilling burgers at the event with officers from the Nevada Highway Patrol. Donations for burgers will be accepted for Special Olympics.

Partner vendors assisting with the event include Michaels Reno Powersports, Sam's Club, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

The UFCU branch hosting Community Shred Day is located at 10705 Double R. Boulevard in Reno.
