Credit Card Forgery Ring Busted

SPARKS, NV - Sparks police have arrested four people allegedly behind a credit card forgery ring.

Sunday March 2nd, Scheels received calls from some victims in California who noticed fraudulent charges on their credit cards from purchases at Scheels.

Scheels loss prevention investigated the activity and noticed a group of people entered the store and purchased specific products with credit cards, then left. This activity occurred over two days.

The same group of males would enter Scheels again Sunday, and Sparks police were called. Upon exiting the store, the group was stopped by police. Four of the males were detained and found to be in possession of approximately 30 altered or fraudulent credit cards. The credit cards appeared to be made from card numbers of unsuspecting victims.

The four men arrested are:

John Nguyen, 25-year-old Sacramento, CA resident.

Thomas Vath, 32-year-old Lathrop, CA resident.

Bin Pham, 27-year-old Elk Grove, CA resident.

Hoang Nguyen, 30-year-old Stockton, CA resident.

All four have been charged with Burglary, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary, Uttering a Forged Instrument, and Possession of a Forged Instrument. Bail for each is $60,000.00.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges or more suspects could be identified.
