CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Forestdale Road in Hope Valley southwest of Gardnerville is closed to snowmobiles.
The road on Forest Service land in California's Alpine County is typically open to motorized snow vehicles in the early winter and late spring when insufficient snow exists at the Hope Valley Snopark.
But officials say there's now adequate snow in the area making staging available to snowmobiles.
Forestdale Road is off-limits to snowmobiles as of Friday.
The timing of the closure of Forestdale Road is determined on an annual basis by the Carson District Ranger based on a review of on-the-ground conditions.
The Mokelumne Wilderness area is adjacent to Forestdale Road on the west and is always closed to motor vehicles.
