RENO, Nev. – Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 – Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center is proud to announce the arrival of the first baby born in 2013. Lyla Emerson Dwyer, was born right at the stroke of midnight. The healthy little bundle of joy weighs 7 lbs 9 oz and measures 20 inches. Parents, David and Amanda Dwyer, are very excited for their second child.
“We are always excited to welcome in the first baby of the New Year,” said Marie Luback-Neves, RN, director of Saint Mary’s Family Birthing Center. “This is one of those special moments at the hospital and Saint Mary’s is proud to have delivered another healthy baby.”
Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center has delivered northern Nevada’s babies for over 104 years and continues to offer a family-centered care philosophy during the labor and delivery experience. The Family Birthing Center is also home to the T.J. and Debbie Day Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, specialized in caring for newborns as well as a Pediatric Unit for children admitted to the hospital.
