DOUGLAS COUNTY, NV - Sierra Front reports the Bison Fire is 100% contained as of Saturday evening.
The fire has burned 24,136 acres. Incident Commander Mike Whalen reports firefighters are continuing to patrol the area, mop up, and conduct fire line rehab.
Roads are back open and evacuation notices have been lifted.
The fire started with a lightning strike July 4 in the Pine Nut Road area of Douglas County and moved over several days into Lyon County's Smith Valley.
Several mining structures, no longer used, were burned over the first few days the fire started, but no homes were damaged. A total of 98 structures were considered in danger over the course of the fire.
The cost to date of fighting this fire is $7,729,660. The biggest part of the cost was the use of the aircraft.
