RENO, Nev. -- One person was severely injured in an apartment fire in the 5200 block of W. Fourth Street, west of downtown Reno late Sunday morning. Investigators are now trying to find out what started it.
Reno Fire Department (RFD) Battalion Chief Richard Natchsheim tells KOLO 8 News Now a Care Flight crew flew the severely injured person to the medical center at UC Davis. One other person suffered breathing problems but refused treatment.
Once the call came in, RFD crews quickly put the flames out. They contained the damage to a single unit in the apartment building, which is good considering the units are all connected and the danger of the fire spreading was high.
Fourth Street was shut down at McCarran for several hours. Animal control is taking care of several dogs who were displaced by the fire.
