RENO, Nev. (AP) - A 44-year-old Fernley man has been sentenced to more than 22 years in federal prison for soliciting children for sex over the Internet.
U.S. District Court Judge Howard McKibben sentenced Vincent Charles Fasone Wednesday after he pleaded guilty in January to attempted coercion and enticement of a minor and commission of a felony sex offense by someone required to register as a sex offender.
Fasone served four years in prison in California for a 1998 conviction for receipt of child pornography.
A Washoe County sheriff's deputy launched an undercover investigation last fall when Fasone was spotted in various Internet chat rooms using the screen name, "Guysmiley."
He was arrested at a Sparks apartment complex where he thought he was going to meet to have sex with seven- and 12-year-old girls.
