RENO, NV - Detectives say he was online looking for parents willing to offer up their children for sex acts. Now this Fernley man is behind bars.
Detectives say on September 11, 43-year-old Vincent Fasone was chatting online when he thought he found a parent who was willing to offer their child for sex acts. That "parent" was actually an officer. When they met up on Thursday, Fasone was arrested. Fasone is now in the Washoe County jail facing federal charges. Because this is a case involving the federal court system, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office was not able to release more specific information, but authorities there want parents to know that they are watching out for their children.
"The Internet Crimes Against Children task force takes an active role in looking for individuals who are out there whether they're looking for children or maybe in this case, parents of children who are willing to possibly share their children for sexual acts," says Sgt. Dennis Carry, supervisor of the WCSO Cyber Crimes Unit. "We're going to look for those people. We're going to find them and we're going to try to put them in custody if they're committing a crime."
There is a way for the public to report anything that might be suspicious online. There is a cyber tipline that puts people in touch with authorities who can help. The number is: 1-800-843-5678.
