RENO, Nev.---Children who are not compliant with the Nevada State law requiring the Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap) immunization before the start of 7th grade will be receiving exclusion letters the first day of school, Monday, August 29.

Parents will then be expected to immediately pick-up their child from school on Monday and take them to an immunization clinic for the required shot.

Due to the high volume of 7th graders who still have not received the Tdap shot, the Washoe County Health District and Saint Mary's Immunization Program have expanded their walk-in clinic hours for one more final Tdap clinic on Monday, August 29.

Between the two walk-in clinics at the Health District and Saint Mary's, parents have 12-hours to get their child immunized and in compliance with the requirement.

After Monday, the Saint Mary's Immunization Program and the Washoe County School District will go back to the "by appointment only" schedule and parents will have to schedule an appointment with one of the clinics or a physician's office. Doing this could force a child to be out of school for an extended period of time.

If the child has already completed this requirement, the Northern Nevada Immunization Coalition is reminding parents to provide their child's school with an updated immunization record prior to Monday, August. 29.; The following clinic locations and times are accommodating only those 7th graders who still need to receive the vaccine.
