NEW WASHOE CITY, Nev. - It's a tradition almost 30 years in the making: the annual Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire Department egg hunt. Hundreds turned out at Washoe Lake State Park on Saturday afternoon to take part in the fun.
"It's a way to give back to the community and a good way to get them out here and let them know we're out here mostly to support them," Sam Anderson of the Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire Department said. "It's for the kids, it gets them out and the weather cooperated today so it's a good time."
He says it's the best turnout he's seen in years. Donations from the event benefit the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
