Earthquake Rocks Northern Nevada, Eastern California

RENO, Nev.--A 4.2 earthquake rocked northern Nevada just before 9 o'clock Friday evening. The USGS reports the quake was centered several miles west of Reno. The first quake was followed shortly by a second one.

People from across northern Nevada, including Cold Springs, Reno, Washoe Valley, Mound House, and Carson City reported feeling the shaking. One person in Sun Valley even reported items falling off her walls.

The USGS website reports the epicenter was about six miles north-northwest of Incline Village at a depth of about seven miles.
