SPARKS, NV - A Reno man has been charged with DUI in the wake of a crash on Interstate 80 near Painted Rock.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says the crash happened about 6PM. Troopers say 21-year-old Ian Hain of Reno allowed his Hyundai sedan drift from the left travel lane onto the inside paved shoulder, where it struck a section of guardrail. He crossed both westbound lanes before rolling over at least once.

Hain and his passenger, 22-year-old Shane Fish of Reno, were extricated from the vehicle and taken to Renown Regional Medical Center. Troopers say both displayed signs of intoxication at the scene. Hain was treated and medically released from the hospital and taken to the Washoe County Detention Facility, where he was booked for felony DUI causing substantial bodily harm, reckless driving, and failing to maintain a travel lane. Fish sustained very serious injuries and remains a patient at the hospital in serious condition.

Trooper Mike Davidson is investigating this crash. Witnesses, or anyone with additional information, are encouraged to contact him at (775) 687-0400 regarding case number NHP-130900062.
