MOUNT HEALTHY, Ohio (AP) - Several dozen animals rescued from an Ohio house fire in suburban Cincinnati have found temporary shelter.

WCPO-TV reports that a family in Colerain Township has offered to take in almost three dozen of the pets rescued from the home in Mount Healthy on Thursday morning.

Authorities arrived to find at least 60 animals inside the house. Most survived, though an iguana and two cats died. Authorities say the pets were well cared for.

Adam Charles and his wife are helping care for ferrets, guinea pigs, rats and bunnies.

Charles says the animals are adjusting. But he says one rat has a broken back, and the ferrets are coughing and sneezing from inhaling smoke.

Other animals were taken by rescue organizations, volunteers, friends or pet businesses.
