LAS VEGAS (AP) - A dragon dance will be real, but fireworks will be by virtual display on the Viva Vision canopy when city officials and the downtown Las Vegas casino district mark the start of a five-day Chinese New Year celebration.
Officials say the 6 p.m. Tuesday event will be a first for the Fremont Street Experience.
The dragon dance will be performed by the Las Vegas Lohan School
of Shaolin, and Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman and other dignitaries be at the 3rd Street Stage for opening ceremonies of
what organizers are calling Dragon in the Desert.
Nightly events include live dragon and lion dances, a vendor village with Asian foods and arts and crafts, a virtual dragon dance on the electronic video overhead canopy and live entertainment and a Karaoke competition.
