SPARKS, NV - A Sparks man officially heard the charges against him Friday morning after confessing to killing a woman.
Thomas Brant appeared via closed-circuit camera from the Washoe County Jail, after court records say he admitted to strangling 50-year-old mother Kimberley Seaton to death and burying her in a shallow grave in his C Street backyard.
Sparks police were alerted to Seaton's disappearance on December 7th when her daughter, Ashleigh Copenhaver, contacted them and said she hadn't heard from her mother in awhile.
According to court documents, Seaton was staying at the house on C Street with 57-year-old Brant.
The documents say when police went to the home to talk to Brant, he was not forthcoming. But later when detectives found a bloody bedspread in Brant's bedroom, he allowed them to search the house.
Detectives say they located Seaton's body in the home's detached garage, in a dirt area on the floor.
Court documents say Brant confessed to strangling Seaton after a night of drinking and arguing.
