Deputy Brian Munden
HAWTHORNE, NV - A Mineral County sheriff's deputy is charged with a first offense DUI after an early-morning, single-vehicle rollover on a rural dirt road.
Nevada Highway Patrol got the call at 4:15 AM Wednesday about the white 2003 Ford F250 Crew Cab that had rolled over on Lucky Boy Pass road, 6 miles west of Hawthorne off State Route 359. Thirty-four-year-old off-duty Mineral County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Munden was allegedly the driver. He and another passenger only suffered minor injuries.
"He failed the field sobriety test," said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen and was taken to the Lyon County Jail in Yerington, not Mineral County.
Trooper Allen said that the request to book him into the adjacent county jail was made by the Mineral County Sheriff's Office personnel. "You would have to ask them about why they didn’t want one of their own booked into their own jail.”
Munden's bail was listed at $1,127.
He is listed and photographed on the Nevada Commission on Peace Officers Training and Standards web site under the “Class 29/30 POST ACADEMY GRADUATION MAY 14, 2010.”
