FERNLEY, Nev. (AP) - Lyon County sheriff's deputies are looking for three suspects who tried to steal a goat that was left with a broken leg in the Fernley area over the Labor Day weekend.
Sheriff's Lt. Johnny Smith says the goat's caretaker found it with a fractured leg and its snout bound with athletic tape.
Investigators think a trio of juvenile males used the tape to try to silence the goat after one of them apparently struck it with some kind of blunt object.
Smith says local residents in Silver Springs have provided information identifying two of the three youths being sought but their names are being withheld.
He says investigators aren't releasing any information at this time about what they think the would-be-abductors intended to do with the goat.
