CARSON CITY, Nev. -- We now know the identity of the Carson City man killed Friday morning in a hit and run accident. He was 46-year-old John Randall Boggs.

Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) officials tell us Boggs was crossing the eastbound lanes at East William Street and State Street, when he was hit by a silver Toyota 4-Runner with lifted suspension, black rims and tinted windows. That vehicle, NHP tells us, left the scene.

A witness told NHP the driver attempted to brake when he saw the pedestrian. When the SUV hit Boggs he landed on the hood before rolling off 40 yards from impact.

The driver of the Toyota did not stop and drove away while the witness remained at the scene until emergency personnel arrived a few minutes later.

East William Street was closed for a time but re-opened later in the day.

NHP officials are asking the public for assistance in locating the driver. If you are the driver who was involved, they urge you to please come forward and speak to the investigators about this case.

If you have information in this accident, call Nevada Highway Patrol at 775-687-0400.
