RENO, NV - Nevada teachers who are members of the teachers union have an open window to drop their union membership.
Nevada teachers can leave the teachers union by submitting a written notice to the union by July 15, according to the Nevada Policy Research Institute (NPRI).
After analyzing teacher union contracts from around the state, the NPRI found that most teacher union contracts have a clause which requires teachers who wish to opt out of the union to submit written notice to their union and/or school district between July 1 - 15.
Depending upon the school district, yearly dues for teachers range from $300.00 for teachers in Mineral County, to $773.88 for teachers in Clark County, according to the NPRI.
The NPRI is providing generic opt-out letters for teachers in every school district.
