RENO, Nev. (AP) - A science teacher at Reno's Wooster High School is being honored by the Desert Research Institute.

Genevieve Dierenga was selected for the Excellence in Environmental Education Award by the Eastern Sierra Chapter of the Air & Waste Management Association.

Drs. Judith Chow and John Watson, a pair of international air quality experts at DRI in Reno, will be on hand to present the award to Dierenga at a special ceremony at Wooster Monday morning.
A partnership with DRI helped bring world renowned geneticist Nina Fedoroff to the school to visit with Dierenga's students and tour their unique aquaponics lab in conjunction with last week's Teacher Appreciation Week.
