RENO, NV - Truckee Meadows fire officials suspect the brush fire in Washoe Valley Thursday afternoon was started accidentally.
Over 100 firefighters and two helicopters limited the fire to about 30 acres. It burned grass and willows along Highway 395 across the road from the Bowers Mansion turnoff.
Traffic kept moving on 395 throughout the fire fight, but one northbound lane was closed to make room for emergency vehicles.
Investigators say they found pieces of metal at the spot where the fire started. They look as if they could have come off of a vehicle and been hot enough to start the fire. One firefighter suffered a bee sting to the hand during fire but no one else was hurt.
