DOUGLAS COUNTY, NV - The Kingsbury Fire that started Wednesday afternoon is 100% contained as of Thursday afternoon, August 28, 2014. It burned about 1.5 acres.
Wednesday afternoon, the fire quickly spread in dry brush and timber south of 1000 Kingsbury Grade on a mountainside. With hard-to-access terrain, the firefight was mostly from the air.
Kingsbury Grade was closed from Highway 206 to Tramway Wednesday afternoon, but is now open.
The cause has not been determined. A Forest Service official says one possible cause, however, is a lightning strike from days earlier leading to smoldering brush that flamed up Wednesday afternoon.
