SPARKS, NV - Interstate 80 westbound is completely back open at the Orchard exit east of Sparks after several crashes involving several vehicles, though traffic is expected to be slow as backed up drivers work their way through.

The Nevada Highway Patrol tells KOLO 8 News Now a big commercial truck dropped a load of gravel on the road between Wadsworth and Derby Dam about 9AM Monday. Several other drivers hit the gravel and slid into barriers.

NHP says the truck was carrying three trailers, including one that opens along the bottom. Why it happened is unclear.

NHP says nine people were treated for minor or moderate injuries, though not all were taken to hospitals. One woman caught in the backup experienced labor pains and was flown to a hospital.

There's no word when the road will be fully back open.
