RENO, NV - A Sparks man has been ruled competent to stand trial for shooting two people in a vacant house he owns.
At a hearing Wednesday in Washoe District Court, Judge Flanagan ruled Wayne Burgarello can go to trial. He is charged with killing a squatter and hurting another.
Burgarello told police he acted in self defense when he killed a man and shot a woman he found in a vacant home he owns in Sparks.
It happened February 13th, and he's charged with murder and attempted murder. Burgarello is still in the Washoe County Jail with bail set at $2 million.
There will be a new hearing to go over bail and other issues in August.
Trial date hasn't been set.
