RENO, NV - Reno police have arrested a local couple accused of severely taking advantage of two people.

Police say Russell Henderson and his wife, Dalaiah Johnson, were arrested on charges of Elder Abuse and Elder Exploitation and Theft, related to the care of a 64-year-old disabled man and an 85-year-old female.

Police say while driving a commercial taxi designed for disabled people, Henderson befriended each victim while providing cab service. Within the last couple of years, Henderson took each victim into his home to live with him and his wife. The victims are not related to each other.

In August of 2013, Reno police became aware of the case after the male victim was admitted to a hospital with severe medical complications due to the lack of appropriate care. During the investigation, detectives say, in addition to not providing proper physical care, Henderson was accessing both victims' bank accounts and withdrawing large sums of money for his personal use. Since being in a proper care facility for the past six weeks, the victim’s health has dramatically improved. Elder Protective Services is involved in this case.
