RENO, NV - A 24-year-old Reno man is sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for holding up five convenience stores.
Randy Ancheta has been sentenced after pleading guilty to five counts of interference with commerce by robbery. The task force investigating the crimes recommended the federal charge over state charges because of violence used in the crimes and his record, which includes a conviction for attempted lewdness with a child under 14.
Three of the armed robberies were in Reno from late 2011 to early 2012, one was in Sparks and one in Carson City. Handguns were shown and used to threaten the victims in all cases.
Ancheta's accomplice was Cameron Muhlenberg, who also pleaded guilty and will be sentenced in February.
