CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Switching to a federally supported health exchange will take time and add confusion for Nevada consumers.
An interim legislative committee was told Monday that as the state transitions from a health exchange operated by Xerox, consumers will be faced with three different call centers depending on the type of transaction.
Separate call centers will be operated for new exchange enrollees; Medicaid recipients; and those seeking coverage because of a life changing event.
Interim exchange director Steve Fisher says while the state is ending its contract with Xerox after months of persistent problems, the operator will continue to play a role in the health exchange through March.
Through May 23 about 36,000 Nevadans have purchased health coverage through Nevada Health Link. Final numbers through May 30 won't be known until mid-June.
