SPARKS, NV - The City of Sparks has closed roads and set up evacuation centers as it prepares for possible flooding on Sunday.
The Sparks Police Department have closed all roads south of Interstate 80 east of Highway 395 of Vista Boulevard as of 10 a.m.
Road closures will be at the following locations: Vista Blvd. And I-80, Sparks Boulevard and I-80, McCarran Blvd. and E. Nugget Ave4, Rock Boulevard and I-80, and Galletti Way and Kietzke Lane.
Until further notice, Kleppe Lane will be closed to through traffic between Franklin Way and Greg Street effective immediately. The closure will enable the City of Sparks to build a flood levee near the North Truckee Drain and Kleppe Lane.
Sandbag locations in the industrial area will also be closed starting at 10 a.m.
The City of Sparks is working with the Red Cross, the Washoe County School District, and Regional Animal Services to provide an evacuation center for citizens if necessary due to the possible flood conditions. In order to keep people with their pets, both citizens and animals will be able to stay at Sparks High School. The evacuation center will open at 12 noon on Sunday.
