SPARKS, Nev.--Police say a nine-year-old girl is going to be okay after being hit by car Saturday evening. Just after 9pm, the girl was riding her Razor Scooter in front of Longford Park in Sparks.
Police believe she darted out from between cars, and that is when she was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
"She was conscious and crying but as far as the full extent of her injuries. She is on her way to Renown Medical Center right now, so we just don't know those answers yet." said Lt. Pete Krall of the Sparks Police Department.
Late Saturday, police said the girl's injuries were not life-threatening.
The driver will not face charges for his involvement in the accident.
Police remind parents that children should wear helmets, elbow pads and knee pads to prevent injury. Also, children are difficult to see after dark, so playing in the street is not advised.
