RENO, Nev. (AP) - Police have dropped the charges against a Reno woman who was arrested for suspicion of child neglect related to what investigators initially said was the severe malnourishment of her 4-month-old son.
Washoe County Sheriff's Deputy Armando Avina says the charge against 28-year-old Shauna Malo was dismissed late Tuesday afternoon and she was released from the county jail pending further
Malo was arrested on Monday after medical officials told authorities the infant appeared to be nearly starved when Malo's mother, Shannon Shane, took him to Renown Regional Medical Center on Monday. Shane later told the Reno Gazette-Journal the young boy suffers from liver and gallbladder problems.
Avina says Malo's 32-year-old husband, Myles Malo, is still being sought for questioning. He also is wanted on a felony drug-related warrant.
