CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Carson City District Attorney Neil Rombardo says he won't run for a third term in next year's election.
Rombardo says he'll serve until the end of his term in 2014 and then let someone else take over as the city's top prosecutor.
In a statement, he says he's proud of his accomplishments as district attorney over the past eight years, including enhanced services for victims and witnesses, gang intervention programs and raising awareness about elder abuse.
He says after a lengthy discussion with his children, he's decided there are more effective ways to serve his family and the community, and he looks forward to exploring new opportunities.
