UPDATE -- Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong says he will not release the identity of the man killed in Saturday's shooting for now because he is concerned for the safety of the 19-year-old woman who was injured.

"We believe she was the target of this invasion," said Furlong. "We need to protect her from a man that is obviously willing to kill."

Furlong told KOLO 8 News Now Sunday afternoon deputies are hitting numerous dead ends in the search for 22-year-old Michael Dylan Brentlinger. They believe he may be headed to Idaho based on information from Facebook.

Furlong confirms the suspect had been fired from the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles just over a month ago.

If you have any information, you can call the Carson City Sheriff's Office at 887-2013 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.

CARSON CITY, NV - Carson City sheriff's deputies are still looking for the suspect in the killing of a man and wounding of his 19-year-old daughter.

22-year-old Michael Dylan Brentlinger is the subject of the search. Detectives believe he left the scene of the shooting in a white 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier with Nevada license plates 948XAT.

Deputies think he may be headed to Idaho.

He is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Saturday, December 28, 2013, at 5:57 a.m., the Carson City Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting at the 2800 block of Carmine Street in east Carson City.

Upon arriving, deputies found a 19-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the head area and a man who had been shot to death. Neither victim's name has been released.

Officials say the woman was transported by Care Flight to Renown in Reno.

For a while Saturday, Carson officials were working with Douglas County on a door-to-door search there, but that proved fruitless.

Brentlinger was recently in custody in the Carson City Jail on charges relating to an assault alleged against the female victim in this case.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong told KOLO 8 News Now Saturday, the suspect was the boyfriend of the 19-year-old woman.

Detectives believe the shooting may be related to a domestic conflict.

Anyone who has seen Brentlinger or his vehicle since the shooting is asked to contact the Carson City Sheriff’s Office at 775-887-2013, local law enforcement or the Secret Witness hotline at 322-4900.
