RENO, NV - North Virginia Street is back open after a crash between a car and a scooter at Panther Valley.

Police say about 2PM Tuesday, the 31-year-old man riding a scooter veered across the southbound lanes and was hit by the driver of a Pontiac sedan, also headed south. The scooter rider was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The Pontiac driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Police say speed, alcohol or other drugs do not appear to be factors. The Major Accident Investigation Team, or MAIT, is looking into the crash.

The road was closed for about three hours.
