BAGHDAD (AP) - Iraqi authorities say more than 20 civilians have been killed today in a series of car bombings and clashes between security forces and militants.

In one attack, a car bomb exploded outside a busy bus station in central Baghdad, killing at least nine people.

Another parked car bomb killed four people in northern Baghdad.

Fighting erupted in Baghdad's western suburbs as gunmen attacked a military convoy. Police say army artillery shells later landed on a Sunni village, killing five civilians.

The violence comes as Iraqi security forces and allied Sunni tribal militias continue to battle militants linked to al-Qaida in Anbar province.
