RENO -- New money is available for startup businesses in Reno. The pilot program is called the "Reno Accelerator Fund."
The city says the program will provide eight promising startups with an investment of 20-thousand dollars.
The program is federally funded through the community development block grant program.
"One of the barriers startups have is early stage capital and we can use this money to provide that service so we're piloting this program," Reno's strategic development administrator, Maureen McKissick, said.
McKissick said the program will not only help startups, but the economy as a whole by putting people to work.
