RENO, NV - The Washoe County Health Division reports Thursday morning’s wood burning color code has changed from RED to GREEN due to an improvement in weather conditions. It is okay to use your fireplace, wood stove, or pellet stove.
The code had been red since Monday, December 9, because of polluted air. That meant an overall ban on woodburning in Washoe County except for people for whom woodburning is the only source of heat.
A snowy storm system Thursday morning helped clear the air substantially, allowing for woodburning again.
