CARSON CITY, Nev. – There’s one place in Northern Nevada you won’t be able to cut down a tree during a holiday season for a several years.
The Bureau of Land Management Sierra Front Field Office has issued a temporary vehicle use restriction and temporary closure to wood harvesting and tree cutting on BLM-managed land in the TRE and Preacher burn areas in the Pine Nut Mountains south of Gardnerville in Douglas County, Nev.
This order will be in effect until December 4, 2014.
The BLM will spend the next few years doing rehabilitation and stabilization on the area burned. This will help re-growth of annual and perennial plants. The restrictions prevent soil erosion.
The only vehicles allowed in the area will be on posted roads and two-track trails.
The decision, supporting documents and maps of the closure area may be viewed on-line at the link below.
Maps of the closure area are available at the Carson City District Office, 5665 Morgan Mill Road.
