Brush Fire Threatened Residential Buildings Near Painted Rock

UPDATE TWO (6:30pm): Storey Co. Fire officials report that crews have stopped all forward progress of the fire and the mop-up phase has begun. There was no serious damage to any of the buildings.

UPDATE (5:54pm): Storey Co. Fire officials say crews are getting a handle on the fire. They say no dozer or helicopter will be needed in the firefight.

RENO, Nev. -- A brush fire is threatening four buildings in the Truckee River Canyon near Painted Rock, that is between Reno/Sparks and Fernley.

Fire officials say the buildings are residential structures. One of the buildings is immediately threatened and three others could be immediately threatened within the next few minutes (as of 5:40pm).
