TOPAZ RANCH ESTATES, NV - The Minnehaha Fire on private land in Douglas County is 80% contained, with full containment expected by 11PM Monday. Investigators say the fire was human-caused from the use of fireworks. They have collected evidence from the scene in an attempt to identify the person or people responsible.
The fire started on the 4th of July but was not reported until Saturday morning.
It burned about 260 acres in Topaz Ranch Estates.
As of 5:00 Sunday evening, East Fork Fire Capt. Terry Taylor said it was fully contained with occasional spot fires, but Monday morning, Sierra Front reported the lower number based on more accurate mapping.
Minnehaha Canyon is about five miles north of Holbrook Junction (Hwy395/208 in Douglas County).
Two firefighters with heat-related illnesses were taken from the fire scene; two firefighters were released from the fire for minor knee injuries.
