Body Found in Water Near Jack London Square, Homicide Investigators on Scene

UPDATE, 2:15pm:
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Police say a body has been found floating in the water near a marina at Oakland's Jack London Square.

Oakland police Officer Johnna Watson says the body was spotted around 9 a.m. Saturday. Watson says when officers and emergency crews arrived they recovered the body of a man believed to be in his 60s.

The cause of death has not been determined, though homicide detectives are investigating.

The name of the man has not been released.

Oakland police Officer Kevin McDonald says the body was spotted around 9 a.m. Saturday. The people who found the body pulled it from the water.

McDonald had few other details, and did not know if the body was that of a man or woman.

Homicide investigators have been called to the scene.
