Body Found in Burned Car in Fernley ID'd

FERNLEY, NV -- Lyon County investigators are still trying to figure out what events led to a body found in a burned out car, but they have identified the victim.

Shortly before midnight on October 1, law enforcement and fire personnel were called to Comfort Suites in Fernley for a vehicle fire in the parking lot.

When they got there, they found a car and truck engulfed in flames. Once the fire was put out, the body of 62-year-old Greiss Ghobrial of Wildwood, Missouri was found inside the car.

Investigators believe there had been an accident between Ghobrial and the parked, empty truck, and though it was a low-impact crash, it led to a fire that burned the driver's body initially beyond recognition. What killed Ghobrial hasn't been determined, and investigators are trying to determine how the fire started with such a low-impact crash.

Investigators believe the victim had been staying at the Comfort Suites.

Deputies say no foul play is suspected.
