INCLINE VILLAGE, NV - Detectives with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office have released the name of a man whose body was found at Sand Harbor, and they are still investigating the death.

Shortly before 11AM Friday, August 22, 2014, deputies responded to Sand Harbor on a report of a body in the water. They were told students in a paddleboarding class saw what appeared to be a body under the water near the docks. The instructor responded and saw what he described as a white male tangled in some ropes attached to a boat. The victim was pulled to the surface and was pronounced dead by emergency medical responders.

Detectives investigating the death have found evidence indicating the man had been working on the boat and appears to have entered the water on his own. Although the circumstances of the death are still under investigation, no foul play appears to be connected.

Exact cause of death will be determined by the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office. The Medical Examiner has identified the man as Carl Strickland, a 40-year-old resident of Incline Village. Next of kin notifications have been made.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division at (775) 328-3320.
