Body Found In Spanish Springs Identified, Person Of Interest In Custody

A 911 call to Fallon Police lead to the discovery of body in Spanish Springs on Tuesday, and now Washoe Deputies have identified him as 47 year old Ryan Petty.

According to investigators Petty lived with 48 year old Billey Stanberry at the home on Mia Drive, not far from Spanish Springs High School.

Petty reportedly died from a gunshot wound.

Stanberry was located in Douglas County and arrested for unrelated charges stemming from an incident in Fallon back in February.

Not far from where he was arrested in Gardnerville, Deputies located Petty's mini-van and several items they believe are related to the murder scene in Spanish Springs.

Anyone who may have information on this case is asked to contact the Washoe County Sheriffs Office or Secret Witness.

Douglas County Detectives located a mini-van belonging to the victim, Ryan Petty, abandoned at the Smith's Supermarket at 1341 US Highway 395 N. Gardnerville.
The van, a red Dodge Caravan with California plates, is related to the homicide and was sealed and transported to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
The person who abandoned the van may have left the parking lot on a gas powered scooter, like this one.
Detectives identified a person of interest in Gardnerville. The man, identified as Billey Stanberry, is a 48 year-old male who lived with Ryan Petty.
