Betting on the Super Bowl
Super Bowl weekend is, well, the Super Bowl of sports betting here in Reno. Local casinos expect most people to place their bets on Sunday, but of course some people are already putting their money down now.

Reno, NV - In the immediate days before the Super Bowl, people are already placing their bets at the Atlantis.

"It's just a festive time of year," says Steve Mikkelson, Race and Sports Book manager at the Atlantis.

And one of the busiest for race and sports books.

"Even if you're not a big sports fan, you tend to come out and watch the game and make a couple of wagers on the game and we're expecting a big a day as we've ever had this year," says Mikkelson.

Perhaps it would have been bigger if the 49ers had made it to the Super Bowl. But when it comes to betting options, you've got to give these casinos props. Lots of them. At the Atlantis, they've got 14 pages worth of prop bets, so far.

"Pretty much everything you can think of, from starting off with which team will receive the opening kick off down to the last scoring play of the game," says Mikkelson. "You know, there's different props on them."

Over at Club Cal Neva, there's no doubt in Kenneth Garrett's mind that he'll be betting on the Super Bowl.

"It will be a variation of things. It will be a few prop bets, the point spread, different things, you know," says Garrett. "It's the Super Bowl!"

And over here, you can even place your bets during the big game.

"We do in game wagering at Cal Neva, " says Nick Bogdanovich, VP of Race and Sports at Club Cal Neva. "So every commercial break we stick up a new line, so they bet from the start to the finish."

But a lot of people say the most important thing is to just have fun.

"It's entertainment. It's for everyone to have a wonderful time and enjoy the game," says Mikkelson.
