DOUGLAS COUNTY, NV - A Wellington man and his dog are dead after a crash on State Route 208 in Douglas County. Traffic was diverted for much of the afternoon.

NHP Trooper Chuck Allen tells KOLO 8 News Now the crash was between a big rig and a pickup about a mile and a half east of Highway 395.

He says shortly before 1PM Monday, 87-year-old Samuel H. Dupuis of Wellington was in a small Mitsubishi pickup and didn't yield the right of way while crossing 208. He was hit by a truck and trailer carrying bulls; the driver of the big rig says he didn't see the smaller truck, and Allen says he is cooperating.

Dupuis was pronounced dead on scene.

The driver of the bigger truck is not hurt and the bulls are okay, according to Allen.
