Reno, NV - Artown is all about celebrating the vitality of Reno, and the monthlong event will showcase some of the best talent from not just Nevada but around the world.
Organizers have announced the lineup in this year's program, and there are more than 500 events stacked during the month of July. The entire event kicks off July 1st at Wingfield Park in downtown Reno.
The mix of events is different every year, but some shows remain the same, like the Reno Fashion Show, which is always a big draw.
The monthlong festival will give locals and visitors a chance to see national performances and to enrich their cultural awareness.
The calendar is jam-packed, with events for every person of every age.
"There's many, many things for children to do, many many things for senior to do. We have lots of workshops, as well as being able to watch a performance or see a visual arts exhibit, so we cover everything from dance to music to historic events," said Beth MacMillan, the Executive Director of Artown. "We really try to be fully inclusive of culture in this community and introduce new cultures to our community."
KNPB will be airing a 90-minute Artown documentary on the festival which is now in its 19th year.
KOLO 8 News Now is a sponsor of Artown.
Organizers say 77% of the events will cost you nothing.
